wo best friends, Phil and Samir, embark on a desperate and misguided quest to earn street cred by adopting a guard dog. The problem? They end up with a pup that’s more Poodle than Pitt. With a no-returns policy, the buddies continue their quest for respect, but through a series of misadventures, they learn a thing or two about responsibility.
Synopsis
"Good Boy" is a coming-of-age buddy comedy that follows 15 year-old Phil and his best friend Samir as they navigate adolescence in their North West London community. Desperate to shed their "nerdy" reputations and earn some respect, the boys adopt what they hope is an intimidating dog, thinking it will help them appear tougher to the local ‘mandem’ - and to anyone who thinks they’re easy targets, which, let’s face it, is EVERYONE. However, when Artie, the local fixer hands them a hairless, Chinese Crested dog instead of the XL Bully they were expecting they’re stuck with a "Good Boy" who’s anything but tough. As they hilariously tackle the challenges of dog ownership, the boys learn life lessons about loyalty, friendship, and what it really means to earn respect. Along the way, they face off against school bullies, street gangs, and their own dysfunctional families. Oggy, their quirky canine, somehow manages to stroke the hearts of their entire North West London neighbourhood for better or worse. As Phil, Samir, and everyone else get caught up in the chaos Oggy brings, they discover that sometimes, the toughest thing you can be is yourself.
